Battle of the Bands - 24 Oct 2009
So, how was it?It was brilliant!!
Seven acts aged between 14 and 18 played a couple of songs each, ranging from an a capella duo, through solo piano and voice to several full-on rock bands.
The sound and lights were amazing and very professional.
The 4 judges were spot on, giving a combination of praise, encouragement and constructive criticism. They had the tough job of selecting the act to win the glittering prize of 8 hours at Prism Recording Studios in Bicester, Oxon, plus a guitar tuner donated by Bicester Music Centre.
The lucky winners were Cloud 99, a 4 piece from Bicester/ Witney, who played again for the cheering crowd at the end of the evening. (Check out the music they recorded on MySpace.)
And the best thing is that these young people were all singing/ playing songs with Jesus at the center. Through this event, God's kingdom has been advanced and the Christian walk of the young people (and their friends and families!) has been strengthened. No-one was sad not to have won because they know that winning is only part of the story; they were just as keen to do their best for God and encourage their friends.
As I said: it was brilliant!
Same again next year?
